Summer is an amazing season to have a wedding. Although it can be really hot during the day, the evenings are the sweet spot. Summer nights are cool and sunsets are late, thats why I love summer weddings so much. I met up with Nick and Sherry for an intimate elopement wedding session in Georgetown.
I spoke Nick for a few weeks before their wedding date. He told me all about how he met Sherry and he how wanted to surprise her. Their day began with a courthouse ceremony to make their union official. Following that, he wanted a session while they still had their post-wedding glow. They arrived for what was disguised as an early dinner where I was waiting and ready to meet them.
Nick had an idea of where he wanted to take their portraits and asked me if I knew somewhere that would make a beautiful backdrop. To me, all of Georgetown is a beautiful backdrop. Its filled with charm, history, color and is far enough away from the busy intersections of Washington, DC. I had the idea of making an entire neighborhood their playground and so we did!
Georgetown is one of my favorite locations for wedding portraits in the DC area because of the abundance of little spots you can use for outstanding portraits. There is a spot there for everyone even if you’re a shy and reserved couple or maybe an outgoing bunch who loves to be in the center, it can all be found here.
We first started our session in a quiet neighborhood and finished down by the canal and shops.
If you’re looking for spots in DC (or anywhere) to have your own intimate elopement wedding, lets talk so I can be there for you! Small weddings are just as important as their larger counterparts and deserve to be photographed.
