Katie and Adam had their engagement session in the Kentlands neighborhood in Gaithersburg, Maryland during the middle of summer. Going into the session, the goal was simple: keep things relaxed, comfortable, and natural while still leaning into the color and character that makes the Kentlands stand out.
That approach ended up fitting them perfectly.
We focused on movement, good light, and giving Katie and Adam space to actually interact with each other without making every moment feel overdone.
A lot of couples say they want candid engagement photos, but what they usually mean is they want photos that feel like them and not out of character. Good direction matters because it helps couples relax quickly while still keeping the session moving.
Their engagement session also included a second location. We traveled to Annapolis, MD and if you have ever been, you know that the water and bay is a big part of the cities identity. The blue water and blue sky naturally made every photo really colorful.
