Vintage Wedding at the Rose Hill Manor in Virginia

Aynia + Marcus

What I love most about classic, traditional weddings is that they are ever lasting. A wedding photographed in 2001 might look similar to a wedding photographed in 2021 and although a lot of things can change a lot in 20 years, a lot of things stay the same. Traditional weddings have the sense of timelessness. A feeling that the moments and the photographs will outlive us all.

Ironically, what make a wedding timeless is borrowing things from the past for the present. Long white wedding gowns and tuxedos or suits are staples of what weddings are today. Although others may choose a trendier fashion choice like cowboy boots or leather jacked draped dresses, those choices are easily tied to an era.

Having your wedding at a historical landmark or mansion adds another element to the forever feeling of classic weddings. Historical venues can date back as far as the 17th century and are still standing today and are likely protected landmarks that will stand after we have come and go. The Rosehill Manor in Leesburg, Virginia is one of those landmarks.

My favorite experience from Aynia and Marcus’ vintage wedding was the new energy that the couple brought but also the energy the guests returned. The moment the couple arrived, the celebration began and it continued through the ceremony and the reception. The couple found modern touches to really bring the venue into the 21st century and even brought iconic symbolism like the freeing of white doves (who almost didn’t want to leave the party).
